I've noticed that the network connection icon doesnt change its state to "Internet connected" (displays a red cross) regardless of actual state. If I look into network connection window it states "Domain network connected" and "Internet connected". Seems to be a bug.

This behavior occurs if some of the system components are corrupt. I suggest that you do In-place Upgrade with your installation DVD to repair it. Arthur Xie - MSFT
